Your Nudes Ain't Like Mine

Skin is such a wonderful thing. And the most fascinating part is that we all come in different shades of it. The term nude as an adjective is defined as naked or unclothed in most dictionaries. However, in the fashion world when we say, "nude" {sometimes} we mean it in the sense of your skin color. There is a really good chance that your nude is not my nude. Why? Because the color NUDE, unlike the guilt in most adhesive bandage colors, is not one-size-fits-all. The color nude can be any hue of human skin. This picture demonstrates that very fact. We come in all different flavors....

In fashion, nude gives a subtle, barely there sexiness that you can't deny. Nude will take a backseat to whatever it is you want to showcase because it has a calming effect. Whether it's makeup, clothing, accessories, etcetera, nude can and will get the job done! I just happen to love nude heels and the reason why is because nude footwear looks good with :

  • Floral Dresses (when you're not sure which color to pull out)
  • Bright or Monochromatic Color schemes (think of an all red outfit)
  • Bold or Patterned Ensembles - like signature fashion houses Pucci, Etro and Missoni
  • ANYTHING! It matches all colors!
Other reasons to love this look:

  • When you want people to pay more attention to your outfit
  • If you're shy about looking too colorful
  • If you can't make up your mind about what shoes to wear
  • The illusion of having longer legs
  • When you really need a pedi touch up and MUST wear open toed shoes to maybe a very formal function of some sort. (I'd die, but hey. Work it out.)
I think that every woman should at least own a comfortable pair. (Especially shoe lovers!) Try them on. Step back about 3 feet from the mirror and see if it blends well with your leg. Like foundation, if it disappears it's your shade.
*As for that picture, I'm sure everyone can at least find a shoe that would best match their skin tone, mine is third from the left. Which one is yours?
